You’re probably eager to get started. Before you start catching eavesdroppers and impressing your friends you might want to read this article about how to use PrivateEye for the first time. We find it really helps to explain how it works, and what you will experience.
Minimum System Requirements
- Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP SP2, Vista or Win 7
- Hardware: Webcam (embedded or add-on)
- Processor: 1.5 GHz
- Memory/RAM: 1 GB
PrivateEye Setup/Installation
- Locate and run PrivateEyeSetup.exe
- Once installed, run PrivateEye, if not automatically launched.
- On the initial startup of PrivateEye, you will be guided through a setup wizard.
- The first setup wizard screen is the Welcome screen. Click the ‘Next’ button to proceed.
- Webcam selection. PrivateEye will automatically select the first available webcam. If you are using an external webcam and it is not plugged in, plug it in. You may choose different webcams by selecting the drop down menu. Click the ‘Next’ button when done.
- Set Password. PrivateEye requires that you set a password specific for the application. We only use this if PrivateEye cannot recognize you while trying to complete face recognition. Click the ‘Next’ button when done.
- Face Recognition. PrivateEye will take an initial picture of you in order to complete facial recognition. You can add more pictures into the user database once you have completed the wizard. Look at your camera and click the ‘Take Picture’ button. Click the ‘Next’ button when done.
- Security Level. We have pre configured two security levels. The ‘Normal’ level is recommended to start off.
- PrivateEye setup wizard is complete. Click the ‘Finish’ button.
- You can change the various settings of PrivateEye by right-clicking the PrivateEye icon in the taskbar and selecting one of the menu items.
